The Friars Club Through the Years

Founded in 1904, the Friars Club has been home to scores of celebrity roasts, kicking off in 1950 with the roast of comedian Sam Levinson. The list of performers who have been honored with a roast is a veritable who’s who of comedy, with legends such as Johnny Carson, Frank Sinatra, Dinah Shore and many others taking their turn at the podium. Check out the gallery below for some rarely-seen images from Friars’ roasts throughout its storied history.
