Religion & Ethics NewsWeekly
Web Site and Outreach Materials

Winner of the prestigious 2007 Webby Award presented by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences and the 2004 Silver Angel Award from Excellence in Media, the RELIGION & ETHICS NEWSWEEKLY Web site, www.pbs.org/wnet/religionandethics, offers a variety of enhanced content to accompany the weekly broadcast. Visitors can search all of the program’s more than 570 shows by topic or keyword; watch or listen to the program in streaming video/audio; download a weekly audio podcast; get current R&E stories delivered to a computer via a weekly RSS newsfeed; view Web exclusive materials such as the full text of interviews with notable guests; find important dates across different religious worlds on the site's multifaith calendar; read daily religion news updates; and access materials for educators that use selected stories, online video and resources to address a broad range of current events — from bioethics and the role of faith in politics to immigration, Islam, and environmental ethics.

In addition, the site features the special page, “One Nation: Religion and Politics in 2008,” which focuses exclusively on election coverage and the campaign for president with extended video clips of interviews and events tied to the 2008 election, commentary by experts in religion and politics, and a regular video blog by program managing editor and correspondent Kim Lawton.

Detailed summaries of the stories included in each week’s show along with a list of the experts, scholars, and others who appear in each report are also available through the show’s online pressroom. PDF and text versions of the current program quarterly newsletter, press releases, press kit materials and photos can also be accessed through the pressroom.

A Viewer’s Guide, developed by Thirteen’s Educational Publishing Department, is distributed each year as a companion to the broadcast. This additional resource features supplemental essays by journalists, theologians and scholars, along with a list of related discussion questions and readings designed to stimulate dialogue and thought about the important issues addressed in the series. The Guide is also accompanied by a DVD of video clips culled from the TV broadcast.
