VOTE ’08: A PRESIDENTIAL FORUM
SENATORS MCCAIN AND OBAMA’S FIRST JOINT APPEARANCE TO AIR LIVE ON THIRTEEN/WNET SEPTEMBER 11
September 9, 2008 – Thirteen will broadcast VOTE ’08: A PRESIDENTIAL FORUM, a live discussion with presidential nominees Senators John McCain and Barack Obama, on Thursday, September 11 from 8-10 p.m.
Thirteen’s Rafael Pi Roman will host the broadcast. He will be joined by Martin Savidge, anchor of the upcoming international newscast WORLDFOCUS, who will be making his public television debut.
Senators McCain and Obama – who will appear separately – will discuss their views and personal experiences with serving their community and the country. These back-to-back, in-depth interviews will take place in front of a live audience at Columbia University as part of the “ServiceNation Presidential Candidates Forum.”
PBS’s NewsHour Senior Correspondent Judy Woodruff and Time managing editor Richard Stengel will co-moderate and question McCain and Obama.

In their first joint appearance since the party conventions, McCain and Obama will discuss in-depth their views on service and civic engagement in the post-9/11, post-Katrina world. Their conversations will take place before a live audience of September 11 family members, military veterans, thought leaders, and Columbia University students. New York Governor David Paterson will welcome the audience before the start of the event.
