MARK BITTMAN’S LIVE WEB CAST HOSTED BY THIRTEEN/WNET NEW YORK APRIL 27

Author and New York Times Columnist Mark Bittman To Answer Viewer Questions Live From Thirteen/WNET’s Studio On April 27 at 5:30 P.M.

Mark Bittman, New York Times food columnist and host of public television’s The Best Recipes in the World, travels throughout the United States and Europe in search of the world’s best food. On Sunday, April 27th at 5:30 p.m., Bittman will be on-hand to share culinary secrets and tips during his live web cast, “Thirteen Cooks: A Minimalist’s Minimacast,” hosted by Thirteen/WNET (thirteen.org/bittman). Online visitors can submit questions up to and during the web cast by using the site’s online form.

Throughout this 30-minute live stream, curious foodies and cooking novices alike can watch Bittman demonstrate cooking techniques and answer questions on the fly – anything from how to pull off a dinner party meal in your tiny kitchen to mastering the art of a soufflé to Bittman’s favorite restaurant on the cheap – it’s up to the viewers to decide! Bittman loves a challenge so viewers are encouraged to be as creative as possible with their questions. Online viewers will also be treated to a special “Bittman on Bittman” session, where the opinionated yet fun-loving chef critiques his own work. Viewers will need Windows media player inorder to access the web cast at www.thirteen.org/bittman.

The web cast will be archived and available after the live stream as Flash video on Thirteen’s video sharing site, Video Thirteen (video.thirteen.org), a new online destination for on-demand access to Thirteen and PBS programs.

The Best Recipes in the World with Mark Bittman of The New York Times airs Sundays at 5 p.m. on Thirteen/WNET, in the tri-state area. Check your local public television stations for all other areas.
