Religion & Ethics Newsweekly - "After Obama's Speech"
After Obama's Speech Perspectives, Original Broadcast Date: March 21, 2008 (Show #1129):

Senator Barack Obama delivered what many are calling the most important speech on race in America since Martin Luther King, Jr. Obama made the speech before an audience of local ministers and community leaders assembled at the National Constitution Center after weeks of controversy surrounding remarks made over the years by his longtime pastor, Reverend Jeremiah Wright. Kim Lawton reports on reaction to the speech, followed by a studio discussion led by Bob Abernethy, who talks with Reverend Richard Cizik of the National Association of Evangelicals and Dr. Robert Franklin, president of Morehouse College, about the impact of Obama's speech and what role religion can play in racial reconciliation. "Finally we have a preacher-politician -- I would say there was as much preaching in his words as there were politics -- who is willing to seem to step up and say what's really needs to be said about America on the subject," Notes Rev. Cizik. "We've not had it before and I'm wonderfully encouraged by that."
