A Permanent Mark
Hundreds of firefighters from far and wide have been making their way to a tattoo parlor in Staten Island. They come seeking the official FDNY memorial tattoo, which is designed to honor those who died in the line of duty on September 11 in a personal, and permanent way. All proceeds -- over $12,000 raised so far -- are donated to the Uniformed Firefighter Association's Widows and Children Fund.
You can find Island Tattoo at 203 Old Town Road, Staten Island, NY 10305. Their telephone number is (718) 667-8282.
