Promoting Diversity
Christopher Metzler is director of the Diversity Studies program at Cornell University. He leads specialized four-day workshops to help promote diversity and new ways of thinking about race.
Metzler believes that racism in the workplace has become cloaked in euphemism and metaphor, but that it's hardly gone away. "People believe that because they are not using the 'n' word, they are not discriminating, but instead what they do is they may say, 'the person from Harlem, or the person from Washington Heights,' or any of those particular areas. So I think it is more of a problem because it's more subtle."
