The Kindness of Neighbors
As the holidays approach the city's soup kitchens and food pantries are beginning to fill up. Doreen Wohl, the executive director of the West Side Campaign Against Hunger, runs an innovative food pantry at the Church of St. Paul and St. Andrew at West End Avenue and 86th Street.
To stock its shelves, the West Side Campaign Against Hunger depends on the Food Bank of New York, which distributes enough food in the five boroughs to provide for 200,000 meals per day.
