City Gardens
Gardens are wonderful havens for escape and serenity. In a city of concrete and glass, it may surprise you to know that New York City contains hundreds of public gardens. In all five boroughs, gardens abound. There are flower-filled rooftops, serene Zen gardens inside museums, vegetable patches tucked between tenements. And as the seasons change, so do the gardens, offering endless possibilities for discovery and escape, all within city limits.
Nancy Berner and Susan Lowry, and photographer Joseph De Sciose co-authored GARDEN GUIDE: NEW YORK CITY, a listing of some of the city's best gardens.
