Chess-in-the-Schools
"Everything that happens over a chess board really happens in life," says Marley Kaplan, President and CEO of Chess-in-the-Schools. A program that has been in existence for more than 15 years, its mission is to build self-esteem, teach discipline, and motivate children in New York's inner-city schools to think and learn by playing chess. We visited a third grade class in a predominately Dominican school in Washington Heights to see the program in action.
