Call to Duty
"Nobody went to Canada and nobody had tried to get out of the draft. We had been attacked and people today forget how much the country was really in danger... ."
John Whitehead, of the Lower Manhattan Development Corp., served in the Navy during World War II as a boat officer. He participated in the first wave which assaulted Normandy on D-Day. He vividly recalls that day and his personal experiences, as well as the sacrifices men made for their country.
