Fixing Failing Schools? |
 |
Back in 2003, Mayor Bloomberg created the New York City Leadership Academy, a privately funded, multi-million dollar effort to train new principals. That year, New York Voices began a multi-part documentary following several aspiring principals from their training at the Academy through their first year on the job.
Rafael Pi Roman looks at what has happened in the three and a half years since the Academy's first class became principals. Is the program fulfilling its mission of training new leaders who can turn around troubled schools? And is it worth the cost of $150,000 per graduate?
