Christine Ebersole, star of the hit Broadway musical GREY GARDENS, has earned rave reviews from critics and audiences alike for her electrifying dual performance as both Little Edie Beale and Edith Bouvier Beale – characters based on the the Albert and David Maysles’ groundbreaking 1975 documentary, also called GREY GARDENS. Both the film and the musical profile Jackie Kennedy Onassis' eccentric aunt and cousin, who took the dizzying plunge from New York City’s high society to squalor in their remote East Hampton home.
Rafael Pi Roman visits Ebersole at the Walter Kerr Theatre, where she discusses her life both on-stage and off.
The program recounts her varied and successful career, from her time in Hollywood trying to make it as a film and TV actress, to her year at SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE, to her current success in the GREY GARDENS musical, which has already earned her the Outer Critics Circle Award, an Obie Award and a Drama Desk Award.
Ebersole also talks about balancing the demands and success of GREY GARDENS with her life at home in Maplewood, New Jersey, which includes her three adopted children, her husband, her 89-year-old mother, and a menagerie of pets.
