By naming one of his deputies to run the Port Authority yesterday and putting the agency in charge of building an expanded Moynihan Station in Midtown, Gov. Andrew Cuomo put another footprint in the center of Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s New York City.

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey's plan to increase tolls is just the latest in a series of cost saving measures -- is there a cautionary tale from other urban centers or a creative model the region can follow?

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie will support a toll hike, but one that is substantially less than originally proposed by the Port Authority, reported ABC News. ABC reported that the governors will support a toll increase of $1.50 at peak hours, and a 25 cent increase on PATH fares.VIDEO
