TONIGHT ON METROFOCUS

Immigration activist Ravi Ragbir’s detention sparked a powerful protest in the streets of New York and a heartfelt appeal from the mayor himself. Ragbir is no longer in custody, but he is still not free. As his possible deportation hangs overhead, so too does the uncertainty of his future. In a Metrofocus exclusive interview, Ragbir and his wife Amy Gottlieb join us to recall those difficult days and discuss the threats faced by many immigrants and their families. The embattled New York City Housing Authority continues to face backlash over busted boilers in freezing temperatures, but those are just the latest in a long list of violations. Tonight, we travel to the Redfern housing project in Queens for a firsthand look at the living conditions and to hear from the tenants who are at the center of the fight for basic human rights. Missing Downton Abbey? You don’t have to travel to London to revisit the history, fashion and beloved characters from the popular PBS series. An immersive exhibition in New York City will transport you to post-Edwardian England, where the characters and the iconic house come to life.
