New York City is on high alert today after two bombs were detonated this weekend, one in a dumpster on West 23rd Street between Sixth and Seventh Avenues in Chelsea, and the other in a garbage can in Seaside Park, New Jersey. Not long after, a pressure cooker bomb was found just a few blocks away on West 27th street and a backpack of explosives was discovered near a train trestle in Elizabeth, New Jersey. Governor Andrew Cuomo stated that the bombs have similarities, suggesting that there may be links to each separate incident. Between speculation on whether these bombs were the product of a terror cell in the region or the act of a lone wolf, the FBI has taken into custody, a 28-year-old naturalized U.S. citizen from Afghanistan, Ahmad Kahn Rahami, who was wanted for questioning in relation to the bombing. Tonight, Darrin Porcher, retired NYPD Lieutenant, terror expert, and criminal justice professor at Monroe will analyze the evidence and share his perspective on what it all means.
