The minimum wage continues to rise in New York and New Jersey and it’s already well above the federally mandated $7.25 an hour in 29 states and Washington D.C. Now Governor Andrew Cuomo is calling for a bigger raise in both New York State and in New York City, where the cost of living is the highest in the country. His proposal would boost the state minimum wage – which is already scheduled to increase to $9 at the beginning of next year – to $10.50 and New York City’s to $11.50

MetroFocus host Rafael Pi Roman talked to Stephanie Luce, professor of labor studies at the City University of New York’s School of Professional Studies, for analysis of the governor’s proposed minimum wage increase.
