On education:
"I’m really focused on a new transformation of our education system. There’s been great focus in the last 5-6 years in terms of accountability. I’m going really focus on making sure we can have a more open system, a system that really cultivates the creativity and curiosity of every kid, moving away from over-testing."

On public safety:
"Well the number one job of any mayor, the number one job of the mayor of the City of New York is to protect the people; to make sure we have safety in our communities, for our children, for our families. And as mayor, that’s what I’m going to focus on. I’m going to make sure that we add 2,000 police to the police force. These police will be focused on community policing. We have to come back to that. In Brooklyn where I grew up, we have a very good strong relationship in my community with the police force. We worked on that, we invested in that. I want to invest for all New Yorkers to have a strong relationship with the community. That’s going to be the focus, community policing."
