Update: Small Steps for Hurricane Victims in Long Beach and Rockaways

December 06, 2012 at 6:50 pm

MetroFocus updates reports on the continuing struggle to recover for Hurricane Sandy victims in Long Beach and the Rockaways. Suzanne Lamanna and Hank Hintze of Long Beach update their story with home video from their still gutted home and neighborhood. Reporter Jim Paymar visited the hard hit town on November 6 when the couple and Suzanne’s son were sorting through the debris Sandy left behind.

Betty Leon and Tricia Taitt of Far Rockaway show their home, which is still in a state of emergency. Electricity didn’t return to their family home until November 16, but because there was still no heat or hot water, they spent Thanksgiving with family and friends.
