Residents there seek shelter at Red Cross facilities and rely on assistance from the National Guard, but they plan on rebuilding their beloved community of “Strong Beach.”

Even from across the country, I was able to personalize and better understand how a natural disaster like this effects people’s lives. I always think that this understanding is particularly important in earthquake country here in California, but I am learning that it is important for a much wider part of the country than I ever dreamed.
