Interview with Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn on ‘Half the Sky’ and Ending Violence Against Women

MetroFocus host Rafael Pi Roman interviews journalists Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn about their project, “Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide.”

Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn join Rafael Pi Roman on MetroFocus to give a preview of their new documentary “Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide,” and talk about their motivations behind tackling such a large topic and introducing some of the important characters involved in the fight for women’s and girls’ safety and rights around the world.  The advocates, who first published the book “Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide” in 2009, consider violence against women and children the “central moral issue of this century.”

The September episode of MetroFocus premieres Sept. 19 at 7:30 p.m. on WLIW, Sept. 20 at 8:30 p.m. on THIRTEEN, and Sept. 25 at 10 p.m. on NJ TV.
