Alan Tudyk: Just Around the ‘Bent’

March 08, 2012 at 4:00 am

Where: The Public Theater
When: Feb. 24 to Mar. 18
Price: General admission is $15, $12 for members.

I always try to see as many plays as possible and I’ve been known to see two in one day. I recently saw the “The Total Bent” at the Public Theater. The artistic team that worked on it is the same one behind the popular play, “Passing Strange.”

It’s in its earliest form — almost in a workshop setting — but it has a high production value. I’d describe it as a non-traditional musical. It’s got a lot of good rock ‘n’ roll music and in that way it’s got moments that really feel like a party.

Alan Tudyk currently stars on the ABC television series “Suburgatory.” He has appeared on Broadway in “Spamalot” and on screen in “28 Days,” “Dodgeball” and the original English production of “Death at a Funeral.” He will appear in “That Beautiful Laugh,” a clown show, at La MaMa’s The Club from Mar. 16 through Mar. 25, 2012.
