Where: Lincoln Center Theater
Opening: Dec. 21
Closing: Dec. 28
Price: $85

I am very excited to see “Blood and Gifts” at Lincoln Center Theater. As the show description says, it’s a “spy-vs-spy play” about a CIA agent dispatched to Pakistan in 1981 to covertly raise funds for “Afghan freedom fighters.” In scenes interlaced with dark humor, the agent interacts with Pakistani military personnel, Afghan mujahideen, English and Russian agents and a U.S. Senator. Bartlett Sher, who is known for his 2008 revival of “South Pacific,” is such an innovative and thoughtful director and the cast is incredible.

Laura Benanti is a performer known for her Tony Award-winning role in the Patti LuPone revival of “Gypsy.” She will appear in Lincoln Center’s 2012 American Songbook series.
