New York University’s Casa Italiana Zerilli-Marimò houses the Italian Studies department but always has exciting cultural programming. Food and opera enthusiast Fred Plotkin hosts an ongoing series called “Adventures in Italian Opera.” On Dec. 5 he will be speaking about the life and work of Arturo Toscanini. He is so well-versed and passionate.

Lidia Bastianich is a chef, best-selling cookbook author, restaurateur, and host of “Lidia’s Italy in America” on public television.
