Need a respite from hectic city life? It’s hard “getting away from it all” while in Manhattan, but when I need a quiet break from things, I head to the hidden garden at The Church of Saint Luke in the Fields on Hudson and Barrow Streets. It’s quiet, peaceful and filled with gorgeous flowers.

Christine C. Quinn has been City Council speaker since 2006. She represents the council’s third district, which includes Chelsea, Greenwich Village and Hell’s Kitchen, as well as parts of SoHo and Murray Hill. She was born in Glen Cove, Long Island.
