One of my all-time favorite places in the city to buy bread is from the Hot Bread Kitchen. Not only do they sell incredibly delicious loafs, tortillas and focaccias, but Hot Bread Kitchen employs and trains as bakers women from low-income and immigrant backgrounds.

By investing in these extraordinary women, Hot Bread Kitchen helps their employees gain the skills necessary to later become food industry managers or entrepreneurs who launch their own businesses.

Talk about a bread winner! Hot Bread Kitchen breads can be found at many city retailers and at Greenmarkets from Union Square to Jackson Heights.
