Lorin Stein: Price is Right

Author: Richard Price
Publisher: Picador
Publication Date: March 2009

What writer is more New York than Richard Price? Not just the novels, but the voice, the tough-mindedness, the street smarts. His latest novel, “Lush Life,” is all about the Lower East Side — I bicycle through that novel every day. Now he’s working on a book about Harlem, where I understand he has spent a lot of time in funeral parlors and storefront churches.
I can’t wait to read it.

Lorin Stein is the editor of The Paris Review and has lived in the East Village since 1996.
