My favorite live theater, without a doubt, is the side-splitting improv comedy the Upright Citizens Brigade (UCB) brings to the stage each week in Chelsea.  It is hilarious and — at $5, $10, or sometimes even free — the best bang for your buck in New York City.  Amy Poehler is one of its founders.  Think you know what improv is?  So did I, and this was so much more.  I took a UCB class – I’m not exactly a standout grad but I love being in the audience.

Edie Magnus is a network television personality who has served as a news anchor and reporter at ABC, CBS, NBC, MSNBC and PBS.  A native of Cincinnati , she married a man from the Upper West Side and has come to embrace New York as home.
