New Jersey’s mopiest thespian, screenwriter and film director Zach Braff has added another line to his resumé: playwright. The former “Scrubs” star’s off-Broadway comedy “All New People” premiers at Second Stage Theatre on July 25.

Director Peter DuBois and cast members Justin Bartha (“The Hangover“), David Wilson Barnes (“Capote“), Anna Camp (“True Blood“) and Krysten Ritter (“Confessions of a Shopaholic“) liven Braff’s words.

Braff’s screenwriting debut was in 2004 with the box office hit “Garden State,” which was filmed in his native New Jersey. New Jersey is also the setting of “All New People,” which describes the interaction between four oddballs visiting the resort town of Long Beach Island in snowy winter.

Braff’s other stage credits include performances in Paul Weitz’s “Trust,” performed last summer at Second Stage, and in Shakespeare in the Park’s “Twelfth Night.”
