The local documentary National Parks: New Yorkers’ Memories focuses on the inspiring stories of New Yorkers whose lives were changed after visiting one of the nation’s national parks.

In addition, THIRTEEN proudly presents three programs that highlight New York’s parks.

  • The African Burial Ground Digital Diaries, produced in partnership with the National Park Service, are powerful interviews with visitors to one of the nation’s newest national monuments.
  • Treasures in the Harbor highlights many national parks in the New York City area, including Floyd Bennett Field and Gateway National Recreation Area.
  • City of Parks is a documentary by six student filmmakers who explore the parks in the city that inspire them.

Great, especially the Kover story! (22:44 – 23:43 minute mark).

I was moved by Hallie’s story connecting her with her mother’s past. It’s interesting to see the parallels she relayed about her mother’s art and her dance. She was truly a pleasure to watch and hear. Good pick for the program.

  • William Epstein

A man wrote a book about his father meeting a primitive Algonquin Indian during the 1920s in Pelham, the Bronx. Shown on Thursday, Nov.12 about 8:30-9:00 PM on Thirteen. I need the name of the author and the book.
