Eric Cortes

best man

I was born and raised by Colombian parents in Plainfield, NJ, not really understanding what it meant to be a Latino. I moved to Philadelphia, PA, to attend Temple University where I was exposed to Latino culture, made my first Latino friends and was engulfed by the Latino community to work. Throughout my time in Philadelphia I did struggle to find out who I am; my own sense of identity. Thankfully through school, leadership programs, my Latino fraternity and community members, I learned a lot about mi gente. Now I live in the Atlantic City, NJ, area where I have a much better perspective of who I am and what it means to be Latino in the U.S.
