Today, Religion & Ethics Newsweekly has announced that they will be releasing a mobile Web app, featuring streaming audio and video podcasts. The app will allow viewers to watch the show anytime, anywhere on smart phones, iPhones, and iPads.

The app will also allow users to make comments on and share stories, and to follow the show on Facebook and Twitter. The app offers all Religion & Ethics news headlines, story videos, program audio, along with a multi-faith calendar.

Unlike most apps, the Religion & Ethics app cannot be downloaded – rather, it is a Web page that behaves as an iPhone app. Check out and explore the app at: http://www.pbs.org/renews.

Religion and Ethics Newsweekly is a THIRTEEN production, and airs airs Saturdays at 10:30 a.m. and Sundays at 5:30 p.m.

I hate to burst your bubble, but using the term “app” is completely misleading. What R&E created was a Mobile version of their website, or a new version of their site customized specifically to view on Mobile web browsers.

That in and of itself is something to be proud of as well. You don’t have to go and hide it thinking people won’t understand the difference. I think they will.
