Intern
Responsibilities: Intern will assist the department in the Ready to Learn project, a national effort to improve the school readiness of young children through the reach of public broadcasting. In addition the intern will assist in other local, programming-based initiatives for both youth and adults. Responsibilities may include: workshop preparation, database management, the Ready to Learn Helpline, and the Reading Rainbow contest.

Skills: Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills. Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Strong computer skills.

Opportunity Profile: Intern should have interest in early childhood education, child development, and community outreach. Student will have the opportunity to be an integral part of the Ready to Learn service, participating in the development and organization of training materials for parents, childcare providers and educators. In addition, the intern will be exposed to other local outreach projects such as the Human Rights 101, Cantos Latinos, UMOJA, and Aging Out. Through these projects the intern will learn how to build and maintain partnerships with community and social organizations as well as cultural institutions. The Intern will learn to become more detail-oriented and better skilled in performing multiple tasks to improve television's reach into the community.

Hours: 15-20 hours per week by one student.
