Reporting to the Director of Major Gifts, the Major Gifts Officer is responsible for managing a portfolio of 150+ Major Gifts and Family Foundations donors to raise $1.4 million or more annually in unrestricted and restricted funds for the Educational Broadcasting Corporation -- Thirteen/WNET and WLIW21.
He or she is responsible for managing and implementing solicitations, cultivation and stewardship, and acknowledgments, for this portfolio of donors. The incumbent is responsible for identifying prospects, cultivating potential contributors, developing solicitation strategies and identifying gift opportunities to match donor interests. He or she is responsible for revenue tracking and financial reports; executing mailings including performing mail merges; maintaining donor records; and assisting with Development events.
Finally, the incumbent will support the entire Development team in the achievement of the overall goals of the department.
To be considered, candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree, with three (3) or more years of experience, preferably in fundraising or a related field. This position requires strong interpersonal and communications skills, including excellent writing and editing skills; computer literacy; and attention to detail. The ideal candidate will possess superior people skills, be highly organized, able to take initiative, and work effectively in a team environment.
Candidates preferred are those with three (3) or more years experience in Major Gifts or Individual Giving. Experience with research databases and with Team Approach or other fundraising databases preferred.
