Thirteen/WNET New York, the flagship public television station in the New York metropolitan area, has an immediate need for a Supervisor in Master Control. This must be a computer savvy individual with a Master Control/TV Operations background. The person chosen will supervise a Master Control staff of one (1) to three (3) in effecting the broadcast of multiple playlists running through a Harris automation system with SeaChange server, Odetics cart machines and tape machines as playout devices. This is an IBEW (Local 1212) and DGA covered position.
The Broadcast Operations Coordinator selected will:
- Monitor multiple running playlists;
- Oversee all transmission and downlink services;
- Identify and solve problems quickly;
- Oversee the processing of time sheets;
- Prepare written discrepancy reports;
- Serve as liaison for air during live events;
- Be prepared to do what is necessary for smooth, error-free air;
- Report to appropriate personnel all maintenance, operating discrepancies following standard operating procedures;
- Monitor remote transmitter sites.
Applicants must have effective problem solving, oral and written communication skills. They must also be PC proficient. Given that this is a 24-hour a day, seven (7) day a week operation, they must be prepared to work variable hours. Applicants must have a background with Automation System in Television Master Control environment. Applicants preferred are those with the following experience:
- Server playout
- VTRÕs
- Master Control Switcher
- Chyron
- Pinnacle
- Odetics cart machines
- Harris Automation
