In a year that none will ever forget, in our community's hour of need, Thirteen opened its doors to rescue and relief workers responding to the attacks. At the same time, Thirteen brought its airwaves to the aid of New York and all America with information, analysis, concerts, and other special lifeline programming. When tragedy struck, Thirteen helped a wounded people cope, understand and begin to heal.

Shortly after the September 11 attacks, thirteen opened its doors to the Red Cross and the Mayor's Office of Emergency Management. Bill Baker, President of Thirteen, speaks with a relief worker at Thirteen.

A requiem for September 11
A Requiem for September 11

As a fair bright September morning yielded
to ash and destruction, without delay or hesitation the staff
of Thirteen responded with purpose and determination to provide solace and shelter to its community.

- Bob Coonrod, president of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting
