Friends of THIRTEEN Celebrate 50th in Chinatown

April 23rd, 2013

On Tuesday, April 23, the Friends of Thirteen hosted a community engagement dinner at Hop Lee Restaurant in the heart of Chinatown.

The Friends, along with President and CEO of WNET, Neal Shapiro, welcomed over 50 community and corporate leaders in Chinatown to celebrate THIRTEEN’s 50th Anniversary. Also in attendance from the station to help celebrate were MetroFocus Producer and Anchor, Rafael Pi Roman; Executive Producer, Mary Lockhart; and Senior Director for Education, Jon Rubin.

In honor of the 50th Anniversary, the Friends of Thirteen aim to connect WNET with the numerous cultural communities around the New York Metropolitan area.  Last night’s event was the first of more to come.
