Phillip Lopate

Phillip Lopate is the author most recently of Two Marriages. He has written eleven books, including a trio of essay collections, Bachelorhood, Against Joie de Vivre , and Portrait of My Body; a book of film criticism, Totally Tenderly Tragically; a book about teaching, Being With Children; and Getting Personal: Selected Writings of Phillip Lopate. His honors include two NEA grants, a Guggenheim fellowship, and a New York Public Library fellowship. He has taught writing in the graduate programs of Columbia, NYU, and Bennington, and currently has the Adams Chair at Hofstra University. This event was moderated by Robert Polito, director of The New School Writing Program, and was held by The New School.
