Phillip Lopate is the author most recently of Two Marriages. He has written eleven books, including a trio of essay collections, Bachelorhood, Against Joie de Vivre , and Portrait of My Body; a book of film criticism, Totally Tenderly Tragically; a book about teaching, Being With Children; and Getting Personal: Selected Writings of Phillip Lopate. His honors include two NEA grants, a Guggenheim fellowship, and a New York Public Library fellowship. He has taught writing in the graduate programs of Columbia, NYU, and Bennington, and currently has the Adams Chair at Hofstra University.
