DVD Technology Contrasted with Other Electronic Resources
DVD technology offers many improvements over earlier electronic resources. DVD discs are more durable and portable than laser discs and more resistant to scratches than CDs. Videotapes wear out, but DVD discs are read by lasers and are not damaged with repeated use. Unlike magnetic media such as floppy disks and videotapes, DVD discs are optical media and cannot be damaged by magnetic fields. They are also less sensitive to extreme temperatures.
DVD technology also provides higher resolution than videotape, laser disc, and CD- or Internet-based video.
