Ex-teen Smokers Suggest Methods on "How to Quit Smoking"

1. Well, actually my aunt used this method. Every time she had a craving for a cigarette she had a piece of bubble gum and she wrote down the date and time of her craving so she could keep a record of her cigarettes that she would have had if she didn't use this method. She hasn't smoked for 2 years.

2. Go shopping. Though it is bad to replace one addictive habit with another at least when you do this you'll be looking good and not shortening your life.

3. Just hold the cigarette in your hand without lighting it. This works very well when you are in the car and want one. It gives your hands something to do and calms the craving for one.

4. When I feel the "need" for a cigarette, I go ride the my bike for 15-20 minutes. At home there's always a something to do, etc. I also carry with me a list of reasons why I want/need to quit, and when I feel the urge, I read that. Also have gum and hard peppermints handy for an addiction attack that my come.
