My Performance

Hi! I live in the Bronx and go to a Middle School in the Bronx. I am 14 years old, and I was one of the five finalists of the poetry slam that was held in my classroom.

We had to read our poems in front of the class and try to get voted best poem so we could be in a real poetry slam. If we won the poetry slam, we would've advanced to the next round to compete at Fordham University. Unfortunately, we lost . We were doing pretty well, but our last classmate messed up a lot, the team got low scores, and we lost by three points.
Our school had to compete against M.S. 95. Most of their poetry did not make any sense to me. For example, one girls title was "That Funny Little Cloud", and her poem really didn't talk about clouds. I am not just saying that because we lost, but I didn't really understand it!

The order in which we recited our poems were: Patricia, Kenasia, myself, Katrina, and then finally Shatisha. I think we did a pretty good job. Not only that, but there were three children that were in the poetry slam competing as judges. I would really like a rematch. What do you think?

Well, I still see myself as a winner and so do my classmates. I hope you like my webpage. Thank you and peace out.
