Our Suggestions for Teachers We all agreed on what we thought makes a good teacher. In the list below is what we thought a good teacher should be like: Good Teachers 1. Enthusiastic 2. Knowledgeable 3. Reviews for tests 4. Well-rounded 5. Treats students like his/her own children 6. Genuine concern for students 7. Entertaining 8. Relates to students 9. Down to earth 10. Study groups 11. Extra effort to learn material 12. Expectations to succeed 13. Help reach goals 14. Good explanations in class 15. Hands on experiments and projects 16. Practice Grammar Sheets 17. Field trips 18. Acting (Shakespeare) in class 19. In writing class- choose 20. Teachers who do meaningful work, not busy work 21. Must be able to communicate with student's topics We all agreed on what a teacher shouldn't be like. And in the list below is what we thought. Bad Teachers 1. Moves either too quickly or too slowly with material 2. Not prepared 3. Compares students to family and peers 4. Negative Reinforcement 5. Insults students 6. Lesson plans that do not include enough time to learn and review 7. Don't let students be independent 8. Don't show an interest in student's success 9. Doesn't address questions 10. Inaccessible teachers 11. Boring teachers 12. Ignores students who are offering information 13. Teachers fail to discuss books in class 14. Low expectations 15. Cursing 16. Rude and obnoxious
