Virtual Cities: A Multimedia Tour

Using wNetStation's GOING PLACES Web companion piece as a springboard, students will study a city of their choice, and create and produce a virtual tour of that city using software with a multimedia slide show feature.


Grade Level:

5 - 8

Subject Matter:

Social Studies, Geography, Art, Technology

Project Length:

Approximately 10 class periods.



Students will be able to:

Describe the geography and climate of their chosen city.
Develop a narrative describing historical and interesting sites located in the city.
Create a city map of the city with either Internet resources, computer-generated graphics, or a hand-drawn image.
Study the history of the city, identify its founding fathers, and describe the founding fathers' contributions to the community.
Name key economic activities that have contributed to the growth of the city, both past and present.
Create a slide show using Kid Pix.
