Your group will choose any city in the world to study. You will find out about:
  • The geography and climate of the city.
  • The history of the city, including the city's founding fathers.
  • Economic activities that helped the city grow in the past, and economic activities that are helping the city grow now.
When you have studied the city, you will create a slide show tour of the city. Your tour will describe the city and explain interesting facts about it. You can include any information that you find that you think will make your tour interesting for your classmates and your teacher. Download images from the Web, collect photos from magazines, and save images from CD-ROMs: You will include some of these images in your slide show. Your slide show must include a map of the city.

The Project Components:
1. Investigation Worksheet: Complete the Investigation Worksheet. You may want to organize your group so that each person in the group completes one or two of the questions. Turn in the completed Investigation Worksheet to your teacher at the end of the project.

2. Kid Pix Slide Show: Your slide show should have at least five slides. You can use images and sounds, Quick Time movies, digitized or scanned photos, and your own illustrations and text. When you are making your slide show, be sure to check for and include the following:
  • A title.
  • A minimum of five slides.
  • A reference slide that lists at least two sources (such as the title of a book or a Web site URL).
  • Clear and readable text.
  • Correct spelling and punctuation.
  • Slides that show the information clearly.
  • Images that support the information, and do not override it.
3. Final Presentation: You will present your slide show to the class. Make sure you do a final run through of your project before you present it to the class. Be prepared to answer questions from your audience about your city.
