Using the Internet, CD-ROMs, print resources, and THE SECRET GARDEN episode of the PBS series NATURE, students will explore the underworld of gardens, identify the elements of a wildlife habitat, design a garden incorporating these elements, and publish their designs by creating dynamic Web pages.

Grade Level:

4-6

Subject Matter:

Life Science, Botany, Math, Design, and Technology

Project Length:

Approximately 6-7 class periods.



Students will be able to:

  Identify the habitat elements required for a healthy wildlife environment.
  Design a garden/wildlife habitat tailored to the specific criteria identified above.
  Draw a blueprint of a garden design.
  Use a homepage builder to create Web pages to publish their findings and designs.
