Tiles

United We Stand is a project whose idea was introduced by parent Kathryn Eddy, who is a professional painter. Students have the opportunity to express themselves regarding the 9/11 tragedy. The project utilizes tiles, paint and glaze. The pictures on the tiles represent unity, and people coming together peacefully. All the students in the school made a mosaic out of ceramic tiles, and the pieces of art will be displayed in a public area so that everyone can see how the Renaissance school is united.

In their work they reflect how the world has changed since the September terrorists attacks and how united the country has become because of this tragedy. They express not only the sympathy and sadness they have, but also unity and diversity.

Upon completion, the project will present a five-foot by five-foot frame of tiles to the town of Montclair for permanent installation.

Sam: My tile represents the World - different races are holding hands.

Clare: All tree roots come together and unite and we should come together and unite.
