Shockwave Flash is an exciting Internet application from Macromedia. It has quickly become a standard for interactive animation on the Web. It is used to create animated maps, illustrations, buttons, banners, navigation bars, and more. One of the best things about Shockwave Flash is that it generates interactive art with extremely small file sizes. This means the interactive art will download in your browser very quickly. Later in the tutorial, you'll see all sorts of examples of Shockwave Flash at work, and you'll see why it's such a fantastic educational technology. It is now offered as a standard plug-in with some of the latest generation of browsers, such as Netscape 4.5. Before you begin the tutorial, make sure you have the minimum system configuration to install and run Shockwave Flash:
If you're using a PC, you will be prompted to selected an area where you want to download Shockwave Flash. Select your browser's plug-in folder as your destination. Click on it and follow the simple instructions. Quit your browser and restart it. You should be all set to go. If you have a Mac, the Flash installer will automatically download to your desktop. Click on the installer and follow the simple instructions. Quit your browser and restart it. You should be all set to go.
