AFRICAN AMERICAN LIVES 2 GUIDE

For high school language arts and social studies classes, we now have an engaging AFRICAN AMERICAN LIVES 2 Multimedia Package. The package includes a guide and DVD; the guide is interactive, with information on how to build a family tree, character profiles of the twelve individuals featured in the series, and a list of informative resources. The DVD highlights poignant moments from the series. Users of the package will learn how to uncover details of their own family histories.

RELIGION & ETHICS NEWSWEEKLY GUIDE

For high school social studies classes (especially AP), we are offering a 32-page Viewer's Guide to the series RELIGION & ETHICS NEWSWEEKLY. The guide has articles on Islam, the environment, religion in the 2008 race for the president, and health care. Also included is a DVD with over 20 clips from the award-winning series.

NATURE TEACHER'S GUIDE: CRASH

For
upper elementary and middle school students, we have produced a new NATURE Teacher's Package that includes a teacher's guide, poster, and complete DVD of the fascinating program
Crash: A Tale of Two Species. The program looks at the interconnection between two very different animals — the horseshoe crab and a bird, the red knot — and the threats to their survival. Activities include tracking bird migrations and observing animals in the field. Teachers receiving this package will be asked to answer a questionnaire on its use.

THE MYSTERIOUS HUMAN HEART

Discussion Guide is a useful tool for adults and students interested in learning more about the heart and the causes and prevention of cardiovascular disease. NATURE Special Comic Book Offer

The second edition of our NATURE comic book is available and is being distributed free of charge to schools, museums and nature centers around the nation. Both NATURE comic books are targeted at pre-teens and teenagers. The new issue of the comic book includes stories related to
Silence of the Bees,
In the Valley of the Wolves, and

THE SUPREME COURT Discussion Guide

Thirteen's Educational Publishing Department has created a Discussion Guide for educators to accompany the
SUPREME COURT. The Guide, designed for grades 9-12, includes background information; an essay, "Why the Supreme Court Is Important — to You!"; and a look at how the Court's decisions have influenced the way young people live.
