What's Matter?
Overview Procedures for Teachers Organizers for Students


This lesson introduces students to many of the basic properties of matter including atoms, ions, elements, molecules, and density. The class explores an interactive flash-animated Web site to answer questions and clarify some misconceptions they might have had about matter. In groups, students concentrate on different aspects of the inquiry. Each group also participates in an online experiment in a section called "Do-It-Yourself."

Students will be able to:

    Use of Internet: Students will use the Internet to conduct Web research and to publish their original work.
