Early America expert Professor Joyce Goodfriend describes the role women played in preserving Dutch culture in America.
Professor Goodfriend: My hometown is Holland, MI; founded in 1846 by Rev Albertus Van Raalte. The immigration to Michigan by his fellow Christian Reformed adherents coupled with my own heritage as a descendent of Polish and Slovak immigrants has lead me to look at the joint Ph.D program at DU and Iliff. My interests in the religious history and social aspects experienced during settlement of immigrants to New England, the Great Lakes basin and Quebec brought me to your site. My phone is 303-946-0872.
